SOTHEBY’S forthcoming Contemporary Art Evening Auction on Monday, June 28, 2010, will present for sale some of the most exciting post-war and contemporary works to appear on the open market in recent years.

Works in the auction range from masterworks by seminal and long-established artists such as Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Gerhard Richter, Alexander Calder and Andy Warhol to the more recently executed zeitgeist artworks of Richard Prince, Bharti Kher, Jeff Koons, Antony Gormley and Peter Doig, in addition to paintings by the celebrated and highly sought-after School of London artists …

Featuring more than eighty works drawn almost exclusively from the Morgan’s exceptional collection of Italian drawings, Rome After Raphael illuminates artistic production in Rome from the Renaissance to the beginning of the Baroque—from approximately 1500 to 1600.

For the first time in the Museum’s new building, MoMA presents an installation featuring the full group of Claude Monet’s late paintings in the collection.

With a body of work that is unique in its formal power and intellectual rigor, Gabriel Orozco (Mexican, b. 1962) emerged at the beginning of the 1990s as one of the most intriguing and original artists of his generation—and one of the last to come of age in the twentieth century.

Orozco resists confinement to a single medium, roaming freely and fluently among drawing, photography, sculpture, installation, and painting.

Sotheby’s spring sale of Russian Art in New York will take place on April 22, 2009, and include a wide variety of modern and contemporary Russian painting and Works of Art featuring an exceptional selection of Icons and decorative items with Imperial lineage. The pre-sale exhibition will open to the public on April 17.
