The world of Hervé Van der Straeten

After studying painting at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Hervé Van der Straeten first gained recognition for himself with his jewellery collections, both under his own name as well as working with fashion. In 1999, he opened his gallery in Paris and launched his collections of exclusive furniture and lighting, which have now become his main activity.

Discover Colin Christian

Born in London on March 30th 1964 to a loving and outgoing mother. He hated school and apart from art classes found the whole thing rather frustrating and useless. At the age of 15 he left school and lived for a year in Morocco with his mother, brother and sister. The cultural difference was very liberating. Spore light

Spore is a pendant light with a single light source. It is constructed from 72 identical frosted aluminium pieces and has a 650mm diameter.

Spore is made from aluminium sheet with a content that is 75% to 100% recycled. Aluminium is a material which can be endlessly recycled. Recycled aluminium uses five percent of the energy required to produce new aluminium. Spore is designed so that it can be easily disassembled for future recycling and is manufactured with a surface treatment that doesn’t harm recycling

For the second collection of Moustache I strived to consider objects matching and protracting the instant chair and table. I’m set on developing with Moustache a series of objects both ingenious and complementary. They contradict existing codes offering free choices to accessorize, conserving an assertive personality, but nevertheless creating a family.
