The Acapulco chair is a classic Mexican chair. It takes its name from the famous Pacific resort.
In the 1950s, when the chair first went into production, Acapulco was the Hollywood hot spot. John Wayne, Elvis, and the Kennedys lounged on sunny terraces overlooking the Acapulco bay.

With Kamel Mennour, his galerist, Daniel Buren had shown his “Pergola” at the 2006 Miami Art Basel. It is now in Paris, in the new arty place that is growing fast : L’Hôtel de la Monnaie. The installation, as usual colorfull, will be shown until Septembre 27th.

Although the global art is in the midst of a crisis, Paris appears to be showing remarkable resistance: the number of auction sales and the volume of lots proposed has remained stable compared with 2008. Moreover, for the first quarter of 2009, the French capital posted a better overall revenue figure than either London or New York on the back of the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint-Laurent sale at the Grand Palais in February.
