Piero Fornasetti was an interior decorator, an Italian painter, an engraver of art books and a sculptor.
He created more than 11,000 items. He also was a deviser of sceneries and customs, an organizer of international exhibitions and events.
Fornasetti’s production of objects and furniture is one of the largest of the 20th century.
He lived most of life in Milan.
In the 1940's, he went into exile in Switzerland.Fornasetti is well known for his items featuring the face of a woman as a motif.(soprano Lina Cavalieri). Fornasetti found her face in an old magazine.
Pierro Fornasetti is also known for the use of black and white, the sun and time.He was heavily influenced by Greek and Roman architecture.
Barnaba Fornasetti, his son, continues today to design in his father's name.
