a Gio Ponti Biography

 

1916-1918: Military service.
1921: Graduated from the Politecnico di Milano University with a degree in Architecture.
1923-1930: Gio Ponti worked for the ceramic factory Richard Ginori in Milan and Sesto Fiorentino.
1928: Gio Ponti founded Domus Magazine.
1936-1961: Professor Faculty of Architecture, Milan.
1947: Stile Magazine
1950: Gio Ponti desgned the Pirelli Tower (first skyscraper in Milan).
1952: Partnership with Alberto Rosselli.
1957: He designed different chairs for Cassina: "Distex", "Superleggera".
Gio Ponti also designed many lamps for Artemide, Fontana Arte ("Billia" 1931) and Venini.
