1901 Born in Borgonovo, Swtizerland.
Giacometti studied at the School of Fine Arts in Geneva.
1922 Giacometti moved to Paris and worked with the sculptor Antoine Bourdelle
With Joan Miró, Max Ernst, Pablo Picasso and Balthus, Giacometti discovered cubism and surrealism in Paris.
1936 to 1940 Giacometti started his famous sculpting on the human head, his statues became stretched out and elongated.
In his paintings the figures appear isolated and attenuated.
His favorite models was his brother Diego Giacometti.
1962, Giacometti won the prize for sculpture at the Venice Biennale.
Giacometti's works can now be seen in many Museums in the World
Giacometti died in 1966 of heart disease and chronic bronchitis
